UA Prof. joins CHED-funded Training in Indonesia

Prof. Melissa Suganob from the College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Food Science of University of Antique Hamtic Campus joins the Tropical Agrosilvopasture for Sustainable Nature-Based Product Development Course hosted by Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, from October 16-27.

The course which is one of the projects of Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) funded by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) aims to explore the practice of agrosilvopasture in Indonesia. The participants will also learn through field visits and lectures on topics such as forests, cocoa, and goat’s milk.

Prof. Suganob’s participation in the said training will also help her develop expertise, collaborate, and advocate for sustainable production practices that will aid the academe in reaching its sustainability, research, and community engagement goals.

Together with Prof. Suganob are 13 other participants from nine members of the State Universities and Colleges – Association of Colleges of Agriculture in the Philippines (SUC-ACAP).

United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia defined Agrosilvopasture as multiple land use that includes livestock breeding, forestry, and cultivation./IAP
