Training and Development of Native Pigs conducted at UA

Representatives from different sectors of the native pig industry in the Province of Antique assembled at University of Antique Main Campus as the academe, through Prof. Arvin D. Subillaga, Instructor I, UA Hamtic Campus, and Researcher, University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), conducts Training and Development of Breeding Objectives for Phenotypic and Growth Traits of Antique Native Pigs, October 13.

Dr. Florencio M. Macuja Sr., Provincial Veterinarian, on his speech highlighted the importance of swine raising in the lives of Antiqueños as it already serves as source of income for many families. He also acknowledged the efforts of Prof. Subillaga in conducting the research that affects significantly the Antiqueños especially the native swine raisers.

Dr. Pablo S. Crespo Jr., UA President, also welcomed the participants stating how the academe focuses on acquiring new knowledge that can be later applied to research.

“The purpose of this research is to generate knowledge, and to use that knowledge to better the lives of the community, and to better the lives of the people,” he further stated.

Mr. Irving John C. Seduco, Research Consultant, also graced the activity where he discussed the Problem Analysis or Root-Cause Analysis.

Among the participants are representatives from the native pig raisers sector, lechoneros, Office of the Provincial Veterinarian, Office of the Municipal Agriculturist, and Academic Institutions./IAP
