Two (2) Roller Kneaders and 26 Manual Potter’s Wheels were turned-over to the Bari Potters as part of the UA-Bari Potters Integrated Livelihood Project, on the Equipment Turn-over Program held at UA Busali-an Hall yesterday, May 15, 2024.

Mr. Niño Grantos, President of the Bari Potters Association urged his fellow potters to put the equipment into good use as the different institutions are helping them to acquire materials and enhance their skills through various trainings.

“Aanhin mo ang milyon na yan kung mabubulok lang sa tabi, sayang ang bawat pirma nila, sayang lang ang bawat katok natin sa kanila kung hindi natin gagamitin, so ito na po ang time na yun,” Mr. Grantos further stated.

Dr. May T. Delgado, Vice-president for Research, Extension, and Innovation (VP REI) of UA, expressed her gratitude to the institutions involved for continuously supporting the potters and extended the University President’s message of thanks for making UA as a partner for the implementation of this project.

“…It is our hope that with these manual potter’s wheel now being turned over to our beneficiaries, our potters will be more productive and their income be improved, and few years from now we will realize the establishment of pottery village in your barangay,” Dr. Delgado further stated.

The Vice-president also reaffirmed UA’s willingness to help the beneficiaries through various extension projects which includes the conduct of trainings.

Leading the turn-over of equipment was Congressman Antonio Agapito Legarda, Representative of the Lone District of Antique, together with Ms. Virgiliza Melendez, and Ms. Anna Regala from Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Antique Field Office, Hon. Gian Carlo Occeña, Municipal Mayor of Sibalom, Dr. Nelly E. Mistio, Vice-president for Administration and Finance (VPAF), Dr. Jelyn O. Alentajan, Vice-president for Academic Affairs (VPAA), Dr. Delgado, and Prof. Armando Cervera III, Livelihood Project Leader.

The design of the machine was the brainchild of Architect Rabin Villar, Prof. Cervera, and Mr. Grantos.
