University of Antique Main Campus welcomes the newly designated Campus Director
Prof. Catherine Viesca holds a Master of Business Administration degree from University of San Agustin and is currently working on her dissertation at Ifugao State University where she is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Management. She was a simple instructor before becoming the Dean of the College of Business and Accountancy. She served as Program Head of the BS Accountancy program from 2014 to 2018 before being named Dean from that year until the present (2023).
Additionally, under her administration as Dean, the college actively participated in all activities at the University of Antique. Prof. Viesca also took part in the processing of the 15 million Hot and Cold Laboratory of the BS Hotel Management and submitted the proposal together with the program head, which was luckily approved. During accreditation, they prepared different programs and submitted them all, some of which were already at level 2, and 1 program for level 3, the BHSM-HM program.
“For my past 5 years of experience as a dean, really, I have learned a lot. I learned how to manage people well and how to handle challenges. There will be failures and mistakes along the way that will serve as our lessons, and we will have learned from them. Maybe next time around, they will be addressed properly, because, of course, as the saying goes, Experience is the best teacher.”, Prof. Viesca told in an interview.
Moreover, they have already produced three (3) Certified Public Accountants from CBA in 2018, 2019, and 2021. As Dean of the College of Business and Accountancy, it is very challenging to handle such a big college with 8 programs in undergraduate and 3 programs in graduate school, a total population of more than 3000, and so many faculties to handle. It is not about the budget that they have difficulties with; it is more on the management side since they have many programs to cater to.
Prof. Viesca, who has knowledge and experience, is unquestionably prepared to take on a new challenge as the newly appointed Campus Director of UA main campus./President’s Office
