New Speech Lab at UA

University of Antique is set to open a New Speech Laboratory on the first semester of AY 2023-2024 after a successful demonstration on its feature and usage, July 27.

The new speech laboratory features 30 student cubicles and one (1) teacher’s control cubicle which will benefit language learners (AB English Language Studies, BA Communication, and all English subjects that need the facility) from the different colleges of the University.

According to Dr. Cecilia O. Salvilla, Dean of College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), the laboratory will enable students to have an actual experience of listening to model pronunciation, repeat, record, compare, do actual performance and assess them in an easier way.

“Facilitate classroom engagement and interaction via computer based exercises and will provide a different experience from traditional teaching learning languages,” she further stated when asked about the advantages.

Present during the demonstration were Dr. Salvilla and Dr. Grace C. Pastolero, Associate Dean of College of Teacher Education (CTE) together with the faculty from the two colleges./IAP
