UA, recipient of DICT free WiFi initiative

True to its goal of effecting continuous development, University of Antique system is among the recipient of Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Broadband ng Masa, a free WiFi for all project launched at University of Antique PaghiUsA Hall, March 3.

With the goal to ensure that every community is connected digitally, the five campuses of UA namely: UA Main Campus in Sibalom, UA Hamtic Campus, UA Tario Lim Memorial Campus, Libertad Extension, and Caluya Extension, were among the first recepients of the free WiFi project in Region VI together with Barangay Calooy.

On her message, Senate President Pro Tempore, Senator Loren B. Legarda assured that the project will also extend to other areas saying, “The launch of this free WiFi sites is only the beginning, we are doing this not only for our kasimanwas in Antique.”

The project initially identified 150 geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas in Antique that will benefit from the free WiFi initiative.

The program was graced by DICT Team headed by DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy, Hon. Antonio Legarda, Congressman of Lone District of Antique, Hon. Rhodora J. Cadiao, Governor of Province of Antique, Board members headed by Vice-Gov. Edgar Denosta, Mayors and Vice-mayors from the 18 municipalities of the province, and guests from Department of Education./IAP
