‘CASadyahan sa paskUA’ spotlights ‘UA for Antique Bulig Drive’

To ignite the Christmas enthusiasm among the members of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) family and to unite in the institution’s drive to help Typhoon Paeng’s victims, the faculty and students of CAS showcased their talents and entertained the crowd during the CAS Night with the theme, ‘CASadyahan sa PaskUA’, on December 6, at the University of Antique (UA) Traditional Knowledge Center. 

Spotlighted during the night was the Gift-giving where CAS faculty and students enthusiastically sang ‘Star ng Pasko’ and wholeheartedly dropped their gifts in the ‘UA for Antique Bulig Drive’ boxes. A total of 221 gifts were gathered during the night. The presentations during the event evolved on the “Seasons of Love” which depicted the relevant activities and celebrations during each month of the year, highlighted through singing, acting and dancing.

Dr. Pablo S. Crespo Jr., University President, alongwith Engr. Nelly M. Mistio, Campus Director and OIC- Vice President for Administration and Finance, and Dr. Cecilia O. Salvilla, CAS Dean, joined the CASadyahan.

“Pinatunayan kang CAS nga malaCAS gid man gihapon ang department da…” (CAS proved that their department is still strong) Dr. Crespo affirmed in his inspirational message. On the other hand, Engr. Mistio congratulated the members of the college for the efforts dedicated for the realization of the event.

When asked of her impression about the activity, Dr. Salvilla remarked that there was an overwhelming participation from both the faculty and staff who shared their talents. She added that the event  was a success and it developed the camaraderie among the CAS family. The spirit of Christmas was alive for almost all shared and sacrificed their money for Typhoon Paeng victims. The values of cooperation, commitment, concern, and social responsibility were really shown.

The entertainment during the night was prepared by the different areas and programs in the college. The Social Science group depicted the celebrations in January and February; the Math Area showcased the March activities; the P.E. group for April and May highlights; the English and BA Communication depicted June-July celebrations while the Filipino group represented the salient events in August. Meanwhile, the Community Development group demonstrated festivities in September; the AB Psychology and Science groups gave emphasis on the events during October and November respectively, and the whole CAS family sang with joy from their hearts to depict the true meaning of Christmas during December. /The Catalyst
