SD partners with CTE on the conduct of Gym Seminar-Workshop for BPED students

Sports Development (SD) Office in partnership with College of Teacher Education (CTE) conducts a Gym Seminar-Workshop for Bachelor of Physical Education (BPED) students, today, February 23 at Paghi-UsA Hall.

The activity aims to prepare and train qualified students to assist on gym workouts and, when they graduate, teach Physical Education, recreation, and sports in the elementary, secondary, and tertiary levels, and/or become sports, recreation, and fitness specialists.

According to Dr. Pablo S. Crespo Jr., this is a venue for students to broaden their scope of knowledge so that they will have the necessary skill when they apply for a job. He challenged the students saying,  “BPED students, be an advocate of sports, be an advocate of healthy living. That is actually your best way of inviting people to get into sports.”

The activity presented topics such as Goal Setting, Healthy Eating Habits, Resistance Training, and Gym Equipment Do’s and Don’ts. The students were also led by Prof. Greg Conrad Montaño and Prof. Glea Joy Paulino to perform different gym workouts using the various equipment such as treadmills, stationary bikes, power racks, bench presses, multi-purpose home gym and many other gears at the Fitness Center.

This seminar-workshop is anchored on the university’s goal to deliver quality instruction of international standard and to produce scientifically inclined Physical Education graduates who are imbued with the institution’s values./SD-IAP
