Binirayan Festival Features Istorya Kinaray-a; kasUbAys as Storytellers
University of Antique through College of Teacher Education (CTE), Sentro ng Wika at Kultura (SWK), and Samahang Filipino partner with Province of Antique for Istorya Kinaray-a, a part of Pasundayag Kang Duna nga Kinaadman at the Old Provincial Capitol on December 21.
Anchored to the celebration of Binirayan Festival and with the aim to create a platform for Antiqueño Youth to the rich culture and tradition of the province, 10 students from CTE were tasked to tell 10 distinct Kinaray-a stories that are product of the initiative of SWK through Kompetisyon sa Sugidanun Pambata 2019.
Dr. Pablo S. Crespo Jr., University President, expressed his happiness that the concept of Pasundayag kang Duna nga Kinaadman was infused in the celebration of Binirayan.
“The University of Antique is very much honored today because the honor of doing the activity to tell the story, Istorya Kinaray-a, is given to the University of Antique,” Dr. Crespo further stated.
The ten stories entitled Ang mga Dulungan, Ang mga Bulawan ka Pinakaurihi nga Datu, Ang Sulog kag ang Tigasaw, Ang Maskara ni Happy, Kun andot sa Busong ang Talinga kang Kikik, Ang Kasapatan nanday Kiko, Kikay, kag Kakay, Si Loloy, Ang Handum ni Dodoy Girum, Pagrara kang Paghigugma, and Si Niknok ang Paborito nga Manok ni Lolo Tinok, were reproduced and granted to the Department of Education as one of the reading materials that they could use.
The event was graced by Congressman Antonio “AA” Legarda, Anak Kalusugan Partylist Representative Ray Roquero, and SP Dante Beriong. Students from University of Antique and Advance Central College were also present in the said activity. /IAP
