UA Partners with SUCs for ASEAN Stars

University of Antique partners with Tarlac Agricultural University together with other universities and colleges from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao in ASEAN STARS (Sustainable, Transcultural, and Advanced Regional Society) initiative that was launched last November 12, 2022.

Rebranded from the award winning Internationalization and ASEAN Festival, the initiative aims to formalize linkages in partnering Philippines Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs) and ASEAN Universities in the conduct of future programs and activities, and to promote inclusivity and sustainable development anchored on advancing socio-economic welfare and in raising trans-cultural awareness.

In an interview with Mr. Risty Clent Aquito, Marketing and Communications Coordinator, he stated that with this activity, UA will be able to connect with PHEIs and ASEAN Universities gaining new insights to further see and understand the internationalization landscape.

“It also helps the university in fostering awareness to the members of UA community regarding integration, globalization, and internationalization to become a strong institution in producing and developing global graduates that meet the demands of the international market and industry,” Aquito added.

The initiative features activities such as ASEAN Dances, ASEAN Music, ASEAN Poetry, ASEAN Cuisine, ASEAN Edutourism, ASEAN Digital Photography, ASEAN Fashion, and ASEAN STARS Language Festival on January 5, 2023 where languages such as Kinaray-a, Bisaya, Ilokano, and Pangasinense will be showcased.

UA will be hosting the ASEAN Fashion that will showcase the creative sustainable costume for male and female models as part of the said initiative.Higher Education Institution-Based Fashion Designer and enthusiast in the ASEAN Region can submit their entries until January 9, 2023.

Furthermore, ASEAN STARS is in collaboration with three ASEAN Universities namely, Chiang Rai Rajabhat University of Thailand, Kyaing Tong University of Myanmar, and Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha of Indonesia and other Universities and Colleges in the country such as World Citi Colleges (WCC), Aeronautical  and Technological College, Universidad de Dagupan (UDD), Northern Negros State College of Science and Technology (NONESCOST), University of Immaculate Concepcion (UIC), and Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT). /IAP
