SCIENTEACH: Symposium for the Youth, is another highlight of the Regional Science, Technology and Innovation Week in Western Visayas (RSTW) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), held at the University of Antique (UA) Library today, August 23, 2024.
The symposium involved a series of episodes with varying topics featuring National Scientists, National Academy of Science and Technology Philippines (NAST PHL) Members, and its awardees.
Aside from promoting science and technology, it also aimed to bring scientists closer to the youth, and to inspire and encourage them to pursue careers in science.
The speakers are renowned scientists and accomplished NAST PHL Members comprised of Dr. Merlyn S. Mendioro who tackled about “Genetic modifications of Selected Agricultural Crops”, Dr. Rey Donne S. Papa who spoke about “Limnologists: Research Contributions and Responsibilities in the Philippine setting”, Dr. Reuel M. Bennett who discussed “Philippine Oomycetes: An Exploration of the Fascinating World of Zoosporic Fungi”, Mr. Arvin C. Diesmos, and Mr. Homer D. Pantua who talked about “Knowing your enemy: A Key Step to Diagnostics and Vaccine Research.”
The RSTW will run until tomorrow, August 24.
