After another successful collaboration that truly inspired the rural youth, University of Antique (UA) together with delegates from 대구대학교(Daegu University), South Korea look back to the one-week UA-DU Learnatory: Strengthening Practical Experience through Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Culture, and Mathematics (STEAM) Camp that aided four Department of Education (DepEd)-identified schools from the District of Sibalom, today, August 15, 2024.
The one-week camp is the fourth camp that was conducted that featured Korean-designed activities conducted by DU Avengers headed by Dr. Jeongho “Daniel” Cha, Vice Dean of the College of Education of DU, and UA student volunteers which benefitted the pupils from Bontol Elementary School, Tulatula Integrated School, Cadoldolan-Igdagmay Elementary School, and Bongbongan I Elementary School.
Dr. Pablo S. Crespo Jr., on his message, expressed his joy that through the STEAM Camp, the DU Avengers experienced the feeling that somehow somewhere there are people and kids who appreciated them. He also expressed his hope that when they will go back to South Korea, they will be strengthened to really become a teacher who will make a difference.
Dr. Grace Pastolero, Dean of the CTE which is the facilitating college for the STEAM Camp, expressed her gratitude for the opportunities given to their college stating that going to the different schools made them realize that they are not alone in educating their students, that the community and local government is also there to help.
The pupils from the different schools surprised the DU Avengers to bid goodbye before they go back to South Korea.
