Cadets Kent Joseph Z. Valenzuela and Alexandra S. Valencia from the College of Maritime Studies undergo onboard training at Busan, South Korea through the 2024 Official Development Assistance (ODA) Global Onboard Training (GOBT) Program which started last August 9 until November 6, 2024.
The three-month long 2024 GOBT Program is carried out by the Republic of Korea and utilizes the resources of Korea Institute of Maritime and Fisheries Technology (KIMFT) and aims to empower seafarers through different trainings and activities.
Valenzuela and Valencia, together with other third year or senior maritime students from different countries such as Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Fiji, will undergo Basic Safety Training, Simulator Training, and On-board Training. They will also have the chance to experience the Korean Culture, learn the Korean Language, and join a field-trip to Maritime Industry.
