Members of the Regional Selection Committee from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region VI conducted a field validation at University of Antique (UA) for the 24th Gawad KALASAG Search for Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Humanitarian Assistance, today, August 8, 2024.
Dr. Jelyn O. Alentajan, Vice-president for Academic Affairs also expressed how heartwarming it is to know that the efforts of UA in nation-building particularly on disaster risk management is being acknowledged.
“We are thankful for the guidance of CHED as always because this is making University of Antique more relevant, and there’s that appreciation that our thrust to be an institution that transform lives and build sustainable and resilient communities is being recognized, is being pursued,” Dr. Alentajan added.
Dr. Pablo S. Crespo Jr., presented the university’s accomplishments and initiatives including its programs that related to Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Humanitarian Assistance.
Mr. Gino Fernandez from DPWH and Ms. Hyacinth Menicable and Ms. Ruby An Pajutagana, both from OCD, conducted the field validation after UA passed the Desk Evaluation for Gawad KALASAG Special Awards Best Higher Education Institution Category, the lone HEI in the Region to pass the said evaluation.
