New Kasubays engage in Survivor’s Toolkit Symposium

First year students and transferees from College of Engineering and architecture (CEA), College of Computer studies (CCS), College of Technology (COT) and Laboratory High School (LHS) convened at UA Traditional Knowledge Center for a symposium dubbed as “Survivor’s Toolkit: Coping with the Demands of College Life” spearheaded by the Guidance Center, November 17.

According to the Guidance Center, the symposium was crafted to equip students with a toolkit that would help them cope with the different demands including academic workloads, varied modality of learning, co-curricular activities which may affect one’s mental health and academic performance.

Dr. Darlene Genizera, Prof. Lorilee F. Serato, and Prof. Pearl L. Asenjo served as resource speakers imparting knowledge and skills in order for the participants to become academically resilient, to familiarize with the techniques in making informed choices and taking responsibility for their own learning activities, and for them to value the importance of self-care.

The first-year students and transferees from College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), College of Business and Accountancy (CBA), College of Maritime Studies (CMS), College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE), and College of Teacher Education (CTE) are scheduled to take part in the same symposium on November 24, 2023./IU
