Kasubay Journalists gather for 6th JournLead

Student Journalists from the different campuses of the University of Antique System gathered as The PRISM, the Official Student Publication of UA, holds the 6th JournLead Seminar and Workshop from October 12-14.

Dr. Pablo S. Crespo Jr., on his message urged the student journalists to always go back to the truth, may it be on what they write or on what they publish.

“There will be a lot of difficulties, a lot of heartaches… but you know at the end of the day, if you’re at the side of the angels, if you’re at the side of the truth, you will be at peace with yourself, you will be at peace with the world,” he further stated.

Prof. Alfonso Samillano Jr., Former Adviser and Editor-in-Chief of The PRISM and Keynote Speaker during the event, highlighted how student journalists can effect change in the society through citing how The Varsitarian, the official campus publication of University of Sto. Tomas paved the way for lawmakers to propose bills that sought to establish National Service Training Program (NSTP) and abolished Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC).

“You are the young blood of this generation; in fact you are the promise of the past generation. Keep that promise, use your power and influence through the internet, and of course with caution, and write for truth and justice and you may achieve excellence,” Prof. Samillano added.

JournLead is held annually since 2017. This year, The PRISM listed 86 Campus Journalists and six advisers in attendance./IAP
