UA holds Mental Health Walk and istUryA kita

Breaking the silence on issues relating to Mental Health, University of Antique holds Mental Health and Guidance Day through Mental Health Walk and istUryA kita: Conversations on Mental Health, at the Traditional Knowledge Center, October 11.

Dr. Kristoffer Ryan T. Gidaya, Head of Guidance and Counseling Services Unit, stated that today’s activity aims to improve the Kasubays’ knowledge, promote awareness and inspire activities that support and safeguard everyone’s mental health as it is a universal right.

“Despite its importance, Mental Health is still a taboo topic that is frequently disregarded, stigmatized, and clouded by false beliefs and misconceptions,” he further stated giving the rationale of why the activity was held.

Dr. Jelyn O. Alentajan, Vice President for Academic Affairs, also reminded the students to nurture good, happy, positive, godly thoughts, saying that “half the battle in life is won up here in the mind. If you say that you’re a loser, then you lose. But when you say that you’re a winner, you have already set your way towards winning in every challenge that you meet.”

The istUryA kita: Conversations on Mental Health which was facilitated by Prof. Rama Lo R. Amedo featured Subject Matter Experts: Dr. Rouella M. Chan-Hagoriels, Dr. Reynalso S. Mariano, and Dr. Arabella kay M. Nerosa, and Guest Panelists which includes, Dr. Pablo S. Crespo Jr., Prof. Wilma Fe S. Vego, and Leeslie I. Alvaniz.

The different colleges and organizations also prepared Mental Health Booths that the students can visit./IAP
