UA supports Dulungan preservation and protection

University of Antique fortified its support to Dulungan preservation and protection as it takes part in the Commitment Signing for the 2024 Simultaneous Dulungan Count at Sebaste Municipal Hall, September 20.

The activity aims to launch an intensified campaign, raising awareness about the significant biological, ecological, and cultural importance of Dulungan (Rhabdotorrhinus waldeni) which was officially declared as the Provincial Bird of Antique by the virtue of Resolution No. 262-2000.

Ms. Ma. Vivian T. Marfil, Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) Officer highlighted the importance of the support and commitment of their partner agencies and extended her hopes to sustain the partnership towards the preservation and protection of Dulungan and the environment in general.

“With us together, we can generate greater impact and we can make a difference to our Province of Antique in terms of environmental protection and conservation,” she added.

Dr. Porferio S. Bangcaya, Campus Director of UA Tario-Lim Memorial Campus (TLMC) and Campus Administrator of Libertad Campus, also showed his support saying, “Rest assured that kung ano ang aton program nga magprotect kang aton birds like Dulungan, jan kami nga mga taga academe.”

The Commitment Signing, which was organized by ENRO, was supposed to be held last August in the celebration of Dulungan Month yet was halted due to the impact of Typhoon Goring in the Province of Antique./IAP
