UA records 7.6% enrollment increase; caters 25K students
“University of Antique has breached the 25K mark with an all-time high record of 25,085 system-wide,” Dr. Jelyn O. Alentajan, Vice-President for Academic Affairs.
With 1,763 additional enrollees for A.Y. 2023-2024, UA records a 7.6% increase in enrollment from 23,322 students for the whole UA system last semester to 25, 085 this year.
In an interview with Dr. Alentajan, she enumerated three reasons behind the surge of enrollees: increase of young population in the Province of Antique, free higher education offered in SUCs like UA, and the presence of the institution in the community including the social media platforms.
For first semester of A.Y. 2023-2024, most programs are conducting face-to-face classes for Major Subjects and Professional lectures thus College Deans are advised to schedule classes starting at 7:30 A.M. and closing at 7:30- 8:00 P.M.
“We have the proposed a five-storey building with 50 classrooms. With that building we can accommodate more classes. Dali na lang man matapos ang New Girl’s Dormitory because aside from the classroom, we also like to address the other needs of the students like housing, because a better adjustment in school would mean better academic performance,” Dr. Alentajan further stated tackling the pipelined projects to address the lack of classroom and other facilities in the University.
The academe recorded 13,298 freshmen applicants system-wide seizing the programs and the quality of education that the University could offer./IAP
