BIT FDAT, BA Comm showcase creations through exhibit and runway show
Artistry and Innovation enkindled as Bachelor of Industrial Technology Major in Fashion Design and Apparel (BIT FDAT) under College of Technology (COT) in collaboration with Bachelor of Arts in Communication students from College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) showcase their creations during the “Shada kag Padayaw” Runway Show and Exhibit at UA Victor’s Arc, June 22-23.
The models took the runway wearing the masterpieces made by BIT FDAT students which include the black and white collection and hand painted couture made of katsa (sack cloths where flour and cornstarch are packed), adorned by bamboo jewelry collection crafted by 3rd year BA Communication students for their subject in Design and Applied Arts.
According to Mr. Jay Kem Elanga, faculty member under the BA Communication program, each collection featured during the show tells a unique story that intertwines tradition and innovation.
Meanwhile, Mr. Reniel A. Bacera, Local Artist and Faculty of COT, said that the event showcased students’ exceptional talents in incorporating textile painting which exemplifies and highlights sustainability and artistry.
“The black and white collection explores innovative cuts and design. The use of katsa as main fabric and bamboo material as accessories accentuates the students’ artistry. This event was one of those activities which explored on the capabilities and artistry of students in BIT FASHION design and apparel students,” he further stated.
The show served as a venue where artistry and craftsmanship of Kasubays are promoted and celebrated./IAP
