Today, we commemorate the martyrdom of then Antique Governor Evelio B. Javier, who was assassinated on February 11, 1986 at San Jose de Buenavista, Antique. His death helped fuel the EDSA People Power Revolution that happened a few days after his death. His life, legacy, and courage remain as a reminder that bravery sparks change especially in times of oppression.
As we remember our hero of freedom and democracy, may we recommit ourselves to realizing his visionary dreams for the Antiqueños, especially the youth. May his legacy inspire us to strive for a brighter future, where freedom, justice, and equality reign supreme.
