Gearing towards a more mentally healthy workplace and learning environment, the different representatives of the various sectors that compose the University of Antique (UA) community sat down for a meaningful discussion during the Conversations on Mental Health v.2.0 in the celebration of the Guidance and Mental Health Month, at Tiripunan Hall, October 10, 2024.

Daisy P. Penaño, RGC, Guidance Designate and Head Teacher I-EsP, Sta. Teresa National High School, Jordan, Guimaras, together with Bob Colin T. Aretaño, President, UA Student Government, Dianne Rose Q. Fadol, Representative, Job Orderly, Nonie C. Maravillas, Representative of the Faculty, and Shecky Mae R. Villavert, Director of External Affairs Unit and member of the Executive Committee, raised their concerns and shared their experiences and insights on the different mental health issues including the practical strategies that may serve as early intervention to prevent more severe issues.

Ms. Agness Jill Turrecha, RGC, Rpm, Head of Guidance Unit, on her message urged the participants to work collectively towards creating a work and learning environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered.

Dr. Pablo S. Crespo Jr., UA President, on his message, also extended his gratitude to the Guidance Unit for initiating this activity as he also wished the students to have a very good stay in the academe, free from anxiety and depression.

“There could be many challenges, there could be frustrations, but because of this we know how to cope… we know how to handle these pressures in life,” he further stated.

The Guidance Unit also prepared a Talk Series for the first year to third year students from the College of Teacher Education, College of Industrial Technology, College of Computer Studies, College of Engineering and Architecture, and Laboratory High School.
