Ten (10) million worth of Augmented and Virtual Reality (ARVR) Laboratory and Learning Management System (LMS) for College of Maritime Studies (CMS) was officially inaugurated and turned-over to the University of Antique (UA) by Sen. Loren Legarda, Senator of the Republic of the Philippines, on June 10, 2024.

Stewarded by Cong. Antonio Agapito “AA” Legarda and assisted by Sen. Legarda, the new facility located at the MV Kasubay or the CMS Building is part of the first phase of the Maritime Education 4.0 Project which aims to help UA, the only academe in Western Visayas that offers free maritime education and produces skilled, globally competent, and nation-building seafarers.

Through the ARVR, students will be provided with immersive experience, and dynamic learning environment where they can engage in realistic simulations, navigate complex scenarios, operate maritime equipment, and enhance practical skills in a virtual space. LMS on the other hand will offer a centralized platform that will enable seamless interaction between students and faculty, streamline curriculum delivery, and provide easy access to a wealth of educational resources.

Together with Dr. Pablo S. Crespo Jr., UA President, are the academe’s top management, Hon. Edgar Denosta, Vice-Governor of the Province of Antique, Mayor Mary Jean N. Te of Municipality of Libertad, and Mayor Mar C. Mission Jr. of Municipality of San Remigio.
