Artists, film enthusiasts, and nurturers convened at the Busalian Hall of the Main Campus as the Himig Himbing in Antique organized by the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and National Commission for Culture and the Arts officially kicks-off, today, September 27, 2024.
At the opening program for the workshops, Dr. Catherine C. Viesca, Vice President for Academic Affairs highlighted that in an increasingly globalized world, it is vital that musical traditions are preserved to ensure that future generations can continue to experience the beauty and wisdom embedded in them.
“As an academic institution committed to fostering learning and cultural awareness, we are proud to support initiatives like this which not only preserve but also celebrate our local tradition,” Dr. Viesca further stated.
Sen. Loren Legarda, Senator of the Republic of the Philippines, and Cong. AA Legarda, Representative of the Lone District of Antique, represented by Mrs. Marnie B. Payne, also showed their support to this initiative whom the two leaders became instrumental for its realisation.
After the program, the participants were then directed to the different venues for the filmmaking workshop and creative expression workshop.
