Eight participating teams from all over the Region convened at the University of Antique Knowledge Development Center as they represent their Higher Education Institution (HEI) in the first-ever Western Visayas AI Hackathon in the region.

The three-day Hackathon, which started yesterday, August 22, is part of the Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) and aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application through providing participants with hands-on experience and a venue to showcase their skills.

After a series of sessions on the first day, the AI enthusiasts’ creativity and collaboration is tested through the marathon of coding to address the problem statements that each team has chosen.

The hackathon will end tomorrow, August 24, and one of the eight teams from Capiz State University, Central Philippine University, Iloilo Science and Technology University, Northern Iloilo State University, University of Antique, University of the Philippines Visayas, University of San Agustin, and West Visayas State University, will be hailed as champion.

This year’s RSTW is organized by the Department of Science and Technology Region VI in partnership with the Unified Movement in Western Visayas to Accelerate Startup and Spinoff Development (UMWAD).
